General Accountant, San Juan

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable General Accountant to manage the financial health of our medical importing and distribution business. In this role, you will handle everything from daily bookkeeping to navigating the complexities of international landed costs and regulatory compliance. You will be the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring that our medical supplies are accounted for from the moment they leave the manufacturer until they reach our healthcare partners.

1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger

• Maintain the General Ledger and perform month-end/year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare accurate balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts daily.

2. Import & Inventory Accounting

• Calculate Landed Costs for imported medical devices (including freight, insurance, customs duties, and taxes).
• Monitor inventory levels and perform periodic physical audits to reconcile with system records.
• Manage accounts payable for international vendors, including handling foreign currency transactions.

3. Accounts Receivable & Collections

• Issue invoices to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.
• Track aging reports and follow up on overdue payments to ensure healthy cash flow.
• Process incoming payments and deposit checks.

4. Compliance & Tax

• Ensure all financial records comply with local accounting standards and medical industry regulations.
• Prepare and file monthly/quarterly tax returns (VAT/Sales Tax, Withholding Tax).
• Assist in external audits and maintain organized digital/physical archives.

• Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 24 years of experience, preferably in import/export, distribution, or the healthcare sector.
• Software: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or SAP Business One) and advanced Excel skills (Vlookups, Pivot Tables).
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and landed cost valuation.
