Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer to support U.S.-based individual and business tax filings. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong understanding of U.S. tax forms and processes, enjoys working behind the scenes, and is comfortable preparing returns without direct client interaction. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Review payroll documentation and prepare calculations to determine eligible tip wages for the FICA Tip Credit 
• Prepare accurate amended federal and state tax returns, including: 
• Form 1040X (Amended Individual Tax Return) 
• Form 1120X (Amended Corporation Tax Return) 
• Form 1120S (Amended S Corporation Tax Return) 
• Form 1065X (Amended Partnership Tax Return) 
• Prepare accurate and timely federal and state tax returns, including: 
• Form 1040 (Individual) 
• Form 1120 (Corporation) 
• Form 1120S (S Corporation) 
• Form 1065 (Partnership) 
• Review and organize financial documents and source data for tax preparation. 
• Input data into tax software systems (CCH). 
• Communicate with the internal team to clarify questions, missing data, or unusual tax issues. 
• Ensure compliance with all IRS and state regulations. 
• Stay updated on U.S. tax code changes relevant to personal and small business filings. 

Qualification and requirements:

• Minimum 2+ years of U.S. tax preparation experience. 
• Solid understanding of Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065. 
• Experience with amended returns is a strong plus. 
• Proficiency in at least one major U.S. tax software platform (Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, etc.). 
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. 
• English proficiency (written) sufficient to read IRS guidelines, forms, and internal instructions. 
• Accounting degree or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is a plus, but not required.

Non-negotiable skills & requirements:

• Minimum 2+ years of U.S. tax preparation experience. 
• Solid understanding of Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065. 
• Experience with amended returns is a strong plus.
