Description
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan with cost savings, efficiencies and compliance in mind; receives guidance and support from Finance Controller
  • Supervises the daily activities of the team
  • Has formal supervisory responsibilities; sets priorities for and coaches employees to meet daily deadlines
  • Requires understanding and application of procedures and concepts within own discipline and strong knowledge of other disciplines
  • Uses judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems
  • Uses tact and diplomacy to exchange information and handle sensitive issues
  • Handle Philippine and Australian entities using Microsoft D365 (PH) and Oracle (AU)Coordinate interview scheduling, shortlist preparation, and initial screening.
  • Onboard new hires into HRIS and coordinate first-day onboarding activities and logistics.
  • Perform hands-on preparation of financial statements for PH
  • Lead tax and statutory audits annually (lasting up to several months)
  • Review and post journal entries prepared by AP and AR teams before month-end closing.
  • Conduct monthly discussions with FP&A for fluctuation and trend analysis.
  • Review weekly cash forecasts prepared by the accountant and explain variances.
  • Manage multi-currency transactions (PHP, USD, AUD).
  • Coordinate with regional/global finance teams for reporting alignment.
  • Oversee two legal entities and ensure compliance with both local and Australian requirements.


Essential Functions include the following.

Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor the team, set clear objectives and conduct performance evaluations
  • Provide training and development opportunities through delegation, stretching tasks and coaching

General Ledger

  • Manage the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Oversee monthly closing process, ensuring all journal entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensure proper recording of transactions in compliance with internal controls and accounting standards (PAS, PFRS)
  • Prepare monthly cost trend analysis, understand and be able to explain reasons behind fluctuations
  • Lead external audit, collaborating with other teams in preparing schedules, responding to queries and address audit findings
  • Work with Finance Controller on the preparation of annual financial statements and disclosures
  • Establish reliable and efficient filing of documents for audit purposes
  • Prepare reports and analysis, as needed

Tax

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations, advice tax implications and implement as applicable to the business
  • Oversee tax audits, collaborating with other teams in preparing schedules, responding to queries and address audit findings
  • Review and ensure accuracy of tax-related journal entries and tax provisions
  • Establish reliable and efficient filing of documents for audit purposes 

Treasury

  • Oversee company bank accounts, maintain relationship with bank partners on new regulations and service facilities
  • Execute foreign exchange transactions and manage currency risk as needed
  • Review weekly cash forecast, collaborating with AR and AP teams on collection and payment estimates and be able to explain variances vs. actual
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, bank regulations and best practices
  • Establish reliable and efficient filing of documents for audit purposes


Skills and Experience

  • With more than 10 years of solid work experience in General Ledger, Tax and Treasury in a multinational company or complex organization under a computerized accounting setup
  • Strong expertise in Philippine taxation (mandatory); familiarity with Australian accounting an advantage.
  • CPA required
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and other reporting tools; Experience in the use of Microsoft D365, an advantage
  • Very analytic and resourceful
  • With atleast 3 years of people management experience
