Position Title: Cook

Department: Kitchen Operations

Reports to: HR/ Operations Manager

Employment Type: Full-time -Probationary 

I. JOB SUMMARY:

The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting quality food according to company standards. This role ensures that all meals are served timely, hygienically, and consistently, while supporting overall kitchen operations and cleanliness.

Cooking & Food Preparation

  • Prepare, season, and cook menu items according to standard recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Ensure all dishes are plated and presented consistently and attractively.
  • Maintain correct cooking temperatures, timings, and quality standards.
  • Adjust recipes and ingredients as necessary for special orders or dietary needs.

Kitchen Hygiene & Safety

  • Keep cooking stations clean, sanitized, and organized.
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper storage, handling, and FIFO (first in, first out).
  • Ensure all cooking equipment and utensils are clean and maintained.

Inventory & Supplies Management

  • Track ingredient levels and inform the Head Chef/Supervisor of low stock.
  • Assist in receiving and checking kitchen deliveries for quality and quantity.
  • Minimize waste through careful portioning and ingredient management.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
  • Assist in bulk orders, catering, or special events as needed.
  • Step in to support other stations during peak hours.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend training, briefings, and safety meetings as required.
  • Adhere to company policies, including the Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by the Supervisor or Management.
III. Skills & Competencies
  • Proficient in cooking techniques (grilling, frying, baking, sauting, etc.).
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
IV. Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary training is a plus.
  • Prior experience as a Cook in a commercial or restaurant kitchen preferred.
  • Food safety/hygiene certification is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
