Purchasers and Canvassers, San Juan

We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to oversee our procurement activities. In the medical distribution industry, timing and quality are everything. You will be responsible for sourcing high-quality medical supplies from international and local vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that our inventory levels meet customer demand without overstocking. Your role is vital in maintaining the supply chain that healthcare providers rely on.

1. Sourcing & Vendor Management

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for medical devices, consumables, and equipment.
• Maintain and update a list of registered and approved suppliers.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to maximize cost-efficiency.

2. Import & Order Coordination

• Process purchase orders (POs) and track shipments from international manufacturers.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely clearance of goods.
• Manage documentation for imports, including Proforma Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Analysis (COA).

3. Inventory & Demand Planning

• Monitor stock levels and analyze sales trends to forecast future purchasing needs.
• Collaborate with the Warehouse team to verify the quality and quantity of received goods.
• Manage "Short-Expiry" products by coordinating with sales teams to prioritize older stock.

4. Compliance & Quality Control

• Ensure all purchased products meet local regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, CE, or ISO certifications).
• Handle claims and returns for defective or incorrect shipments.
• Maintain meticulous records of purchase prices and historical data for budget audits.

• Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 24 years of experience in procurement, ideally within the pharmaceutical, medical device, or FMCG industries.
• Skills:
• Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP software (QuickBooks, SAP, or Odoo) and Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of international shipping (Incoterms 2020) and customs procedures.

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to compare complex quotes and shipping costs to find the best value.
• Urgency: A proactive mindset to prevent "stock-outs" of critical medical supplies.
• Ethics: High level of integrity when dealing with suppliers and large-scale contracts.
