• Installation: Install and connect wiring, conduit, outlets, lighting fixtures, and electrical control systems according to blueprints and local codes. 
• Maintenance and repair: Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment like circuit breakers, motors, and transformers. This includes troubleshooting malfunctions and replacing faulty parts. 
• Compliance and safety: Ensure all electrical work meets the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant building and safety regulations. This includes performing safety checks and documenting work. 
• Collaboration: Work with architects, general contractors, and other tradespeople on construction projects. 
• Documentation: Keep records of work completed, materials used, and inspections performed. 

Essential skills and qualifications

• Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.
• Skilled in using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to test and diagnose electrical problems using testing devices.
• Understanding of electrical systems, including residential and commercial three-phase power.
