Position Title: Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Reports To: Project Manager / Operations Head

The Quantity Surveyor/Estimator is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projectsfrom initial calculations to final figures. The role ensures cost efficiency without compromising quality and safety standards. The QS/Estimator prepares cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets, while providing technical advice and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budget forecasts, and bills of quantities (BOQ) for projects.
• Analyze project drawings, plans, and specifications to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers for accurate cost assessments.
• Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost efficiency.
• Monitor project expenditures and prepare progress reports against approved budgets.
• Prepare tender documents, contracts, and cost summaries for bidding and project implementation.
• Assess variations, change orders, and claims, and recommend appropriate cost adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with local construction standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Provide cost advice and value engineering solutions to support project decision-making.
• Maintain proper documentation of estimates, contracts, and project cost records.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Licensed Civil Engineer (preferred but not always required).
• At least 25 years of relevant work experience in construction cost estimation or quantity surveying.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and cost-estimating software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, Candy, or similar).
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
