Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
  • Follow recipes and prepare meals according to standards.
  • Monitor food while cooking to ensure proper temperature and consistency.
  • Plate dishes attractively and ensure portion control.
  • Work closely with other kitchen staff and servers.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding food prep, delays, or issues.
  • Follow health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards.
  • Dispose of waste properly and ensure proper storage of food items.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 months to 1 year in a professional kitchen, cafeteria, bakery or pastry kitchen or food service environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (reading recipes, measuring ingredients)
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to follow recipes, portion sizes, and cooking procedures accurately.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Good time management and teamwork skills.
