You will be responsible for leading and supervising all on-site electrical works during the construction phase. Reporting to the Project Manager / Engineering Director, this role ensures that installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems are executed safely, in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and project schedule. The Electrical Senior Engineer acts as the primary technical authority on site for electrical matters, coordinating with contractors, consultants, and other disciplines to resolve issues and deliver a high-quality, fully compliant installation.
Site Execution & Supervision- Oversee day-to-day electrical construction activities, ensuring work is performed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, method statements, and specifications.
- Supervise and guide contractors, supervisors, and electricians; monitor productivity and workmanship quality.
- Plan and sequence electrical works to align with project schedule and with other trades (civil, mechanical, architectural, etc.).
- Ensure proper installation of all electrical systems (MV/LV distribution, panels, cable trays, cabling, lighting, small power, grounding, earthing, etc.).
- Inspect ongoing and completed works to verify compliance with design, codes, and quality standards.
- Review and approve electrical inspection requests (IRs) and monitor the Daily Activity Report (DAR).
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team and client/consultant for inspections, punch lists, and closure of non-conformances.
- Ensure correct materials are delivered and used on site, verifying them against approved material submittals and datasheets.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and design documents for the site team; clarify any ambiguities.
- Review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and builders work drawings to ensure constructability and coordination.
- Resolve technical issues on site quickly, coordinating with design engineers, vendors, and other disciplines when needed.
- Raise and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) and support preparation of technical proposals for variations/claims related to electrical scope.
- Plan and oversee pre-commissioning, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems (insulation resistance tests, continuity, functional tests, protection relay tests, etc.).
- Coordinate with specialist vendors and commissioning teams to ensure systems operate as per design and manufacturer requirements.
- Ensure all test reports, checklists, and certificates are properly completed, documented, and submitted.
- Support handover process, including preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and training for end-user/operations teams.
- Enforce electrical safety on site (lockout/tagout, proper isolation, working at height, hot works, permit-to-work procedures, etc.).
- Ensure all site personnel follow HSE regulations and company safety policies.
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for electrical activities.
- Immediately address unsafe acts/conditions and support incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing and updating look-ahead schedules for electrical works.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Attend coordination meetings with Project Manager, other disciplines, contractors, and client/consultant.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports, highlighting key achievements, constraints, and risks.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Building Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in electrical design, construction management, or project engineering.
- Experience in large-scale building, industrial, infrastructure, or EPC projects is preferred.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software; BIM experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to produce and review shop drawings (SI) and manage design modifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong field experience.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to effectively manage consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Registered Electrical Engineer is required.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
- MV/LV power distribution systems and installation practices.
- Cable routing, termination, and panel installation.
- Lighting, small power, grounding/earthing, and lightning protection systems.
- Testing and commissioning procedures and standards.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local regulations).
- Ability to read and interpret drawings (single line diagrams, layouts, schematics, schedules) and mark up as-builts.
- Proficiency with MS Office and ideally AutoCAD / Navisworks / BIM viewers.
- Strong leadership and team management skills for supervising site staff and subcontractors.
- Effective communication skills to interact with site teams, management, and client/consultant representatives.
- High level of organization, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy construction site.
- Problem-solving mindset, able to make practical decisions under pressure while maintaining safety and quality.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
