The Head of Underwriting is responsible for leading and overseeing the underwriting strategy across all lines of business. This role ensures profitability, risk discipline, and regulatory compliance while aligning with a digital-first and partnership-driven growth strategy. You will play a critical role in balancing innovation with sound risk management to drive the companys long-term success.

• Define and execute underwriting strategies aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Establish underwriting guidelines, pricing frameworks, authority limits, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure consistent underwriting practices across all products, channels, and partnerships.
• Oversee portfolio performance, loss ratios, exposure accumulation, and profitability metrics.
• Collaborate with Actuarial, Claims, and Finance teams to optimize pricing and reserving.
• Identify emerging risks and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
• Act as the underwriting authority for key partnerships, digital platforms, and embedded insurance arrangements.
• Support product development initiatives from a risk and underwriting perspective.
• Drive process efficiency and automation to support fast turnaround times without compromising risk quality.
• Review and approve complex, high-value, or non-standard risks.
• Ensure full compliance with Insurance Commission regulations and internal governance standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop the underwriting team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
• Build underwriting capabilities to support growth across both traditional and digital channels.

• Experience: At least 10+ years of underwriting experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Industry Background: Strong background in General Insurance (e.g., Motor, Property, Health, Personal & Commercial Lines).
• Innovation Experience: Proven experience working with digital insurance products and partnership-driven distribution models.
• Education: Bachelors degree in Insurance, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of Philippine insurance regulations and market dynamics.

• Strategic Thinking: Strong commercial acumen combined with deep risk discipline.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced underwriting and pricing expertise across multiple lines.
• Data-Driven: Ability to leverage data for decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
• Communication: Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
