Safety Engineer, Zamboanga del Norte

Job Responsibilities:

• Documentation and Compliance
• Prepare, review and submit safety reports, risk assessments, permits to work and other regulatory compliance documents
• Maintain, update and manage safety records, inspection logs, incident reports and other safety-related documentation
• Ensure compliance with applicable government regulation, company policies and safety standards
• Inspection and Monitoring
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and workplace walkthroughs to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards and company policies
• Identify, assess and monitor unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near-miss incidents and potential hazards and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures
• Ensure availability, proper use and compliance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety tools and emergency equipment on site
• Monitor contractor, subcontractor and workforce compliance with safety rules, regulations and approved safety plans
• Incident Investigation and Risk Management
• Lead and participate in accident and incident investigations including root cause analysis, documentation and submission of investigation reports
• Recommend and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of incidents
• Coordination and Support
• Spearhead and facilitate toolbox meetings, safety orientations, drills, trainings, and emergency preparedness activities
• Coordinate closely with site management, supervisors and the Safety and Health Department on safety-related concerns and initiatives
• Perform other safety-related duties as assigned by management or the Safety and Health Department Head

Job Qualifications:

• Licensed Mining Engineer
• Minimum one (1) year Supervisory experience in mining operations or mine safety management
• Completion of 40-Hour BOSH SO2 is an advantage
• Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and mitigate potential hazards through inspections of facilities, machinery and safety equipment
• Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health policies, regulations and industry best practices. 
• Proficient in computer applications and reporting tools
• Able to work effectively under pressure and challenging site conditions
