The Fuel Truck Driver is responsible for the safe transportation, handling, and dispensing of fuel to construction equipment and vehicles within railway construction sites. The role ensures uninterrupted site operations while strictly complying with safety procedures, traffic management plans, and environmental and HSE requirements.
- Operate fuel trucks safely within railway construction sites and designated access routes.
- Transport fuel to site locations and dispense fuel to construction equipment and vehicles as scheduled or instructed.
- Follow approved Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and coordinate movements with a Banksman when required.
- Conduct daily preoperation vehicle inspections, including fuel system, hoses, pumps, and safety equipment.
- Ensure fuel transfer activities are carried out safely, using proper grounding, bonding, and spillprevention measures.
- Maintain constant awareness of fire, explosion, and environmental hazards during fueling operations.
- Immediately stop fueling operations in the event of unsafe conditions, leaks, or spills.
- Respond to minor fuel spills in accordance with site spill response procedures and report incidents promptly.
- Ensure correct documentation of fuel issuance, delivery logs, and consumption records.
- Maintain cleanliness of the fuel truck, fueling area, and surrounding work environment.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and mandatory HSE training sessions.
- Report incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions in accordance with site reporting procedures.
- Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Comply with applicable railway safety rules, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum Educational Attainment: Junior High School Level Completer (Grade 10) or holder of an Alternative Learning System (ALS) Certificate of Completion.
- Driver's License: Code C
- Proven experience as a fuel truck driver or tanker driver in construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with fuel dispensing systems, hoses, pumps, and safety controls.
- Knowledge of spill prevention, fire safety, and environmental protection measures.
- Experience working within active construction sites and trafficcontrolled environments.
- Understanding of workplace safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Capable of working in highrisk and outdoor environments.
- Ability to remain alert, disciplined, and safetyfocused at all times.
