General Manager Events Department

Directly Reports to: CEO


Primary Role:

To oversee and manage the operations of the events department, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and exceed client expectations. The GM leads strategy, planning, execution, and team performance for all events.


Key Responsibilities:


Operations Management

  • Supervise all events from planning to post-event evaluation
  • Ensure teams follow processes, timelines, and quality standards
  • Oversee logistics, vendor coordination, and manpower allocation


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor Project Managers and event coordinators
  • Monitor team performance and provide guidance for improvement
  • Assist in hiring and training event staff as needed


Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for key clients on events
  • Ensure client expectations are met and exceeded
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Creative, Accounts, and Support to deliver seamless experiences


Financial & Resource Oversight

  • Manage event budgets and approve major expenditures
  • Optimize resources and staffing for efficient project execution
  • Review post-event reports to ensure profitability and ROI


Strategic Planning

  • Plan and implement operational improvements for the events department
  • Identify opportunities to grow the events side of the business
  • Align event strategy with the companys growth and brand objectives



Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Event Management, Marketing, or any related field.
  • At least 58 years of experience in event management, operations, or project management, preferably in agency or corporate settings.
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams of event professionals.
  • Strong budgeting, resource planning, and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent client-facing, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to plan, execute, and optimize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with digital campaigns, brand activations, and experiential marketing is a plus.
