They are responsible for many tasks, including:

Negotiating: Securing favorable prices and terms from suppliers
Managing: Controlling stock levels, managing budgets, and handling supply and production problems
Displaying: Working with visual display staff to decide how to display goods to maximize sales
Forecasting: Analyzing data and trends to predict sales and profits
Communicating: Communicating customer problems to the company and addressing customer issues
Reporting: Analyzing the previous season's sales and reporting on the current season's lines
